Together with community members and researchers, we gathered important data across Nunavut and northern Manitoba on vegetation and species like caribou, muskox, polar bears, waterfowl, bats, and birds.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4dd29a9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4dd29a9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The goal?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2e87025 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2e87025\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>To understand the land, ecosystems, and animal populations in the places the KHFL will cross, and to ensure their protection is built into our project planning.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1b33f81 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1b33f81\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">How we carry out this work<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5e81df0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5e81df0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Our team used trail cameras, acoustic recorders, telemetry data reviews, helicopter surveys, and plant assessments to track wildlife movement, monitor habitat quality, and document seasonal patterns.<\/p><p>Whether it was counting ducklings in the spring, surveying bat activity through echolocation, or tracking polar bear emergence from dens in late winter, each effort helped build a clearer picture of life on the land.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8d80655 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8d80655\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Why this matters<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a19d8e0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a19d8e0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Making this work public is part of our commitment to transparency and accountability. As an Inuit-led company, we believe that communities, partners, and the public deserve to see the science that guides our decisions. These studies aren\u2019t just a regulatory requirement, they\u2019re how we make sure the KHFL is built in a way that respects wildlife, cultural practices, and the land itself.<\/p><p>There\u2019s more to come.
